There is a star with nice asterism on the gemstone. I just couldn't capture it in dispersed sunlight
This Untreated and Unheated Banded Black Star Sapphire from India is much more beautiful in person. The asterism does create a full bodied well balanced star with good movement but is is faint. The bands have their own chatoyant flash. In today's market almost all black star Sapphires are heated and treated. This one was mined over 100 years ago and is not treated in any way. This is an above average size as well.
